Okay I played with on a teleconference

Jen I hope you don’t mind but I tweaked these three which are my favorites. The quality of the light in your shots is just startling to me. As Brc is in texture mode and IvoryHut is in macro mode…I am in capturing light mode…so these beauties really speak to me.

Guest Shutter – Jenfera, Blinded By The Light

Jenfera sent me a most excellent link to her “Sunrise Photo Album”. She was very present with her camera…her subject the early morning light’s many moods. Jenfera, the blog is all yours!

When I was getting ready for work this morning, I happened to look outside and saw this orange sky

I grabbed my camera and noticed a peachy glow in the dining room on my way out to the deck

The view towards the west.

Kinda creepy, but cool at the same time

About 10 minutes later, I was drying my hair when I noticed this. The sun had risen higher and changed the light completely

Wild and wonderful Jenfera…This time of year offers such an amazing technicolor show in the sky here in the states…thanks for sharing.

ETA: Hey BRC…6:30 AM; NINETEEN DEGREES?!?!?!?! You have got to be kidding me!

Channeling P’Dub Again…

If P’Dub is channeling Ethel Merman what does that make me? Carol Channing?

Alright, who is Ann Miller? Step up…c’mon KD I know you flip your hair like that. I KNOW Music Maven is Della with all dat sass.

Anyway…

These Joisey Horses tempted me to post them again!

Personally, I like the brown one better here, but I maybe tender towards it since it reminds me of Snuffy, the sweetest horse evah! Am I biased or does the brown horse picture look better?

I will be traveling until Friday…hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow night, but I have no idea what the Deerfield Embassy Suites has in the way of broadband.

ETA: Took all your suggestions and recropped…does this help Speckly?

IvoryHut’s take…

I think we may be working too hard for it…what is the old saying…”No amount of photoshop will make up for poor photography”

Shutter Community Saves Girls!

Karmardav took the most adorable shot of her girls this past weekend..one problem…shot 15 minutes too late. The afternoon sun had receeded and left Karmardav with two perfect yet grainy smiles in her photo. Enter the shutter community…Karmardav ask us Photoshop doo wop gals to wield our magic wands and try to recover an other wise great photo.

Here is the SOOC shot

First to answer the charge was IvoryHut with some very creative solutions:

ETA: CHOSEN SHOT

Then Jenfera, new to Photoshop Elements, applied some excellent technique

I applied my Kelby points…and I looked up a new plugin that Kelby uses to reduce noise in shots called NoisewarePro.

Urgh! excuse the vanity…I forgot to turn off the copyrite, sorry.

Then Renae took a mighty crack at it…

Karmardav is certainly appreciative of all our efforts and made the suggestion that we show all the fine work everyone did.

Hey, Karmardav, what did you end up doing?

Great stuff…thanks for all the sharing!

Nov Challenge – Macro foods

We got some fun stuff! Some unique stuff!!

First up…Music Maven:
Green beans and bacon…mmmm bacon!

Pecans grown in her own back yard. (Shucked by her Uncle)

Orange World

Isn’t this the most beautiful orange? I love the lighting.

Next, IvoryHut…and her commentary. Ivory…your photos make me quake.

Does this count as a macro food shot?

turon flambe

Turon is essentially ripe plantain bananas with slivers of jackfruit, sprinkled with brown sugar, and wrapped in a thin egg roll wrapper then deep fried. At home, we usually serve this with a warm butter and rum syrup, and ice cream on the side.

sans rival

A sinfully rich desert of butter, cashews, crispy chewy flaky sweet wafers, and more sweet butter.

ube ice cream

No, this isn’t Photoshop gone bad. Ube is purple yam, and this purple yam ice cream is very very very good.

Trust me.

spicy mussles

These mussels were cooked in a spicy black bean sauce. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it again.

spicy mussels with mushrooms

In case the sight of mussels doesn’t appeal to you, here’s a view of the mushrooms and other julienned vegetables in the same dish.

godzilla roll

Tuna, salmon, and hamachi roll, deep-fried with tempura batter, and topped with salmon roe and a spicy dressing. It was so good that I didn’t even mind that our table was right in front of the aquarium.

fruit bowl

I guess the sticker there in the back gives it away that this isn’t an all-organic fruit bowl.

buko pandan drink

Buko is young coconut, and pandan is an aromatic leaf used to flavor rice, cream, etc.

pepper stuffed with spanish rice

My first attempt at stuffing a pepper.

I can do without bread and potatoes and pasta, but please don’t take away my rice.

Renea hits with the fruit loops of her mornings:

And now…Karmardav
cranberries before they were made into bread

dinner roll…see how the flash makes the egg wash sparkle?

Mine: Bubbly

And now…the queen of foodies, Jenfera
it all started innnocently with pears

But then BAM yolks

but was Jenfera done? No! Acorn seduction

Oooh and I could not forget brc.

She assures me this is a lable from some new hipster organic produce…I am not sure I am buying it.

Thanks to everyone who submitted photos. It was great fun to see it all.

Now…December’s Challenge…document an expression of joy. Not what brings you joy, but someone expressing joy.

Is Dec. 20th too early in this crazy hectic season?

More from the Tday Shoot

And don’t forget…some of you have sent your macro food shots( Thank you, IvoryHut, Jenfera and Karmardav)…but really…there should be more! Email them to me today!

IvoryHut has been working on a flickr group for our challenges…I am hoping to have that for trial for the next challenge in Dec.

Joisey Livestock…

I had the great honor of going on a shoot Thanksgiving morning with my niece and nephew. They live in the northern most part of NJ where there are many small farms and livestock! Things that go moo! I was so excited when we came upon cows that I had the settings all wrong on my camera and over exposed a bunch of shots.

Here is one a kinda salvaged…it was a shame because these cows were ready for their close-up

When I finally recovered my wits I was able to capture this little guy…

and this

Then we hit the livestock jackpot…two horses close to a fence!

One was speckled and obviously a posing pro! Work it, work it.

And then my favorite this beautiful brown sweety.

I had so much fun playing P’dub for the day!

ETA: Sherweld is sharing more pearls of wisdom!

Hi Shrew
Since you seem to be a born again experimenter, here’s a link for a technique that simulates a Lensbaby camera lens. I sort of like it sometimes for certain effects, but like anything else, the effect (in my opinion) can be overdone. http://pissedpoetpics.com/tlerow2col2.html Once again I’ve messed with one of your nice pix for show and tell. However since your pic had already been “Ortonized” the change isn’t as dramatic. I guess the Lensbaby effect simulates more how a person sees things, that is focus in on an object, and the rest just blurs out.

Well with this new found technique…I had to try it out. Here is a shot from the same day…I think the lensbaby look really works well.

Thanks again, Sherweld!
