Flash in Daylight…HP not PS…what, What, WHAT?
Jenfera was out snapping a few fall foliage photos (gotta love alliteration). Anyway, she took the same photo with and without flash. NYIP recommends using your flash as fillflash for details on bright sunny days so that your colors are not completely washed out and details aren’t lost in high contrast shadows. Jenfera has depicted this phenom beautifully…
That’s something huh? Thanks, Jenfera.
MusicMaven played with her HP photo imaging software…below is Lenny the Lizard.
SOOC

and Lenny after beautification through HP software, recropped and colorful. I really like Lenny.

If you don’t have Photoshop and don’t want Photoshop…there are some means to enhancing your photos available. Please check out Music Maven’s section of Shrew’s Shutters Webgallery for more comparisons with the HP software…she has pomegranits and roses and gates and and..I thank her.
Where is the webgallery…you can find the link under blogroll ———-> over there.—–>
Mini Photo Essay for the Mass Crew – Red Sox Nation
Okay…so I had to fly up to Boston for market research today for the day job. The cabbie dropped me off about three blocks away from the building cause the street was closed for the Red Sox World Series Win Parade and…I broke my rule! I didn’t bring my camera. So I was frced to use my cellphone camera, but I believe Jenfera, Renae and Karmardav will forgive quality for the thought…at least I hope so.
This lovely bunch were yelling “Yankees Suck” Umm, didn’t y’all beat Colorado?

Here is the street sign where I needed to go…

Just outside of the building, let’s just say Red Sox Nation was building…the time was 11:30 AM

And I was tempted to blow off work and follow THIS GUY!

It is now 12:29 and the parade has started…I am on the top floor of this building trying to watch market research and all I can hear is the roar of Red Sox fans
Congrats to all Red Sox Fans everywhere.

More from the Kelby 7-Point System, before and afters
Just playing…
What is interesting for me, is I am finding through using Kelby’s system I am developing a better self critical eye. Photos I loved before in their SOOC form I now am recropping or even less in love with because when I try to place the light or drama into the photo…I continue to push and ask what is the main subject. What is the story being told here…etc.
So tell me, do you like the manipulated shots? Please keep in mind…I am only on Chapter 2…I still have 19 more chapters full of great slick tips and tricks to learn. But I would love to know…are these better? and why?
And the results are in…
A double challenge month that it was…
First the Workspace challenge…it is under the webgallery under…wait, for it…”work”

And then we have “SCARY” Pictures, also in our gallery…I must say we have wide ranging expressions of what makes the hairs raise on our arms; from the more traditional gravesides to others that are deeply personal.

We as a group have a deep thread of arachnophobia and two of you have mycophobia? What is up with that?
With November’s Challenge being about Macro Food…I would like us all really focus on the technical aspects of light play within the images. Play with light and see what it does with your subject.
Good work, gang! I can’t wait to hear the discussions.

Okay…Kelby’s 7 Point System is Amazing!!!!
I have in my hot little hands Scott Kelby’s 7 Point System for Photoshop. I had a throw away moon shot from tonight that I was playing with…next thing I know 20 minutes of reading and clicking and I had this!
I was so excited I forgot to save out the before to show the wow of the after…so…I did it again with a few other shots…
Before – and I just want to say I love this shot as is…to me this is Paris in October.

7 Point – But this is how Paris in October made me feel.

I want to marry this system. And I cheated…I didn’t go through Kelby’s Lessons (which I will this weekend!) so I am not even maximizing what is in this book. If you have Adobe Photoshop…run don’t walk to PeachPit Press and BUY IT!!! *Mr. Kelby, please forgive my inept handy work here. I promise I will get better. I mean really, just 4 hours with the book and just LOOK at that Paris shot. Yeah, I know the Jack-o-Lantern shot could use more smoothing. Point taken, lesson learned.*
Okay, those office shots will be uploaded Friday Night. And the October “What is Scary?” Pictures…look for them this weekend. *insert scary laugh*

Guest Shutter – Renae rolls in the leaves
Okay…busy busy day here….
Renae sent the following…
So on one of those insanely beautiful summer like days
we had last week, I was completely inspired to get
outside and take some photos of the color that was
bursting all over the yard. I just HAD to get out.
It was so compelling, I ignored the kids’ cries for
lunch, dragged them out to the back yard, and let them
throw acorns at each other while I shot 111 photos! I
had no idea I took that many. And unfortunately I was
quite disappointed with many of the shots. They came
out NOTHING like I was seeing with my own two eyes.
But it didn’t matter, it was a gorgeous day and I had
fun. And now all the leaves are on the ground and I
am SO happy I took the photos when I did. I love autumn.
Well…I think you will love some of Renae’s shots…check out her gallery.
Check back this afternoon for some great stuff from our IvoryHut!
